The struggles of avoiding sugar
A poem on saying no to sugar (which is SOOO hard!)
They say, “Sugar is harmful”
We’ve heard it a million times.
But compare it to other addictions,
it wouldn’t even qualify as a crime.
The thing is, I haven’t had sugar
in 48 hours, or maybe more!
My willpower is strong, but hey,
I’m a dessert-lover to the core.
How to say no to the inviting,
delicious, piping hot jalebi?
The call of a creamy, light cheesecake
Turns me from an adult into a baby.
Yes, the calorie intake is high
But it’s about the happiness too!
‘Stressed’ is ‘desserts’ spelt backwards,
Just change the point of view.
Comforting, irresistible, indulgent
a pleasure beyond divine.
Every meal must end on a sweet note
or else, you’ll hear me whine!
Sugar causes inflammation,
it also harms oral health,
but can anything really replace
the way desserts make me felt?
How long before I succumb,
to the heavenly sweets that beckon?
Maybe I shouldn’t count the days,
focus on the benefits, I reckon.
Still waiting for the day that scientists
come up with an innovation.
How to indulge in my favourite treats,
without guilt, with only elation!
What’s your favourite dessert? Do you love eating cakes, or are you more of a brownie person?
